Today Roshambo Winery hosted a 192-player Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament in Sonoma County, CA, and I and several friends drove up to take part in the competition. The event drew a considerable number of San Francisco hipsters in various states of costume, inebriation, dance, and undress, generally in that chronological order over the course of the afternoon, and needless to say I had a very good time.
Among the day’s highlights was getting to see a quintumvirate of Hooters waitresses do RPS battle with a sextet of rather frightening Nazi S&M clowns. But that wasn’t the best part. The best part was watching my girl J take home first place in her first-ever RPS tournament. I was so impressed. She’s got ice water in her veins. And now to accompany that ice water she’s got a trophy (a molded hand resting in a red high-heeled shoe and flipping the bird) and a $1000 championship check. Not bad for a day’s work.
